  Coach Lafon in Canada
John Huntley, 7th Dan, invited Coach Lafon to conduct a two-day clinic at his Aberdeen Judo Club in Kamloops, British Columbia. The clinic on Judo Training Methodology drew thirty-five coaches and athletes from British Columbia. Attendees were introduced to backward shaping, unorthodox ukemi, creative warm-up drills, crash pad training, new teaching methods for beginners, and several other non-traditional concepts. It was an eye-opener according to most of the participants.

John Huntley has been a leader in coach education in British Columbia for years, so he and the coach have run into many of the same hurdles when it comes to improving the teaching methods in the Judo community. Both persevere in the presence of stiff resistance.

This trip was sponsored by the Pan-American Judo Union on behalf of D'Arcy Rahming, President of the Bahamas Judo Federation. Mr. Rahming has invited the coach to be the official technical consultant to the Bahamas Judo Federation. March 15, 2007
